About the Author

Bob Goff was born August 24,1946, and raised in a military family. He attended high school in Bedford, Indiana, and volunteered for the US Army at the age of seventeen. He rose through the ranks to sergeant within two years and was promoted to staff sergeant E-6 during his tour in Vietnam two years later.

He saw heavy combat while serving with the Twenty-Fifth Infantry Division to include the Tet Offensive. He received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman’s Badge, to name some of his honors.

He received his honorable discharge on July 1, 1970, and went on to pursue a degree in criminal justice.

After his military service, he was hired by the West Virginia Department of Labor. He rose through the ranks and ultimately retired as the director of the Wage and Hour Section, having served thirty years in the enforcement of West Virginia’s labor laws.

He is married to his best friend and wife of 30 years, Sarah.

Having retired, he chose to run for city council and was elected to a four-year term.

He held offices including president, vice president and chaired several committees prior to his retirement.
